Lemmy Dadsplain

Hi Dads, I made a [post](https://lemmy.world/post/16622782) over in !fedigrow@lemm.ee about possibly consolidating the many dad groups down to just one (at least for now) to encourage activity. The general consensus was that we focus discussion over at !fatherverse@midwest.social because, among some other reasons, it’s the only community that seems to have an active mod. I hope you’ll join me in posting over there!

New trick for getting my picky kiddo to eat her veggies: I put all the music on my phone on random and whenever she wants me to skip a song she doesn't like she has to eat some of her veggies first. [\#parenting](https://jorts.horse/tags/parenting) [@dadsplain](https://lemmy.ca/c/dadsplain)

I was looking up when babies can safely start eating untoasted bread and one of the images led me to this website that sells... stuff? Are they selling me the question? Who knows. Then if you scroll down to the related products, you can buy a basketball club for $30, down from $15! ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Flemmy.ca%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F5689223c-afbf-4b99-8ff6-365df272dc13.png) I'm guessing this is some phishing website looking to steal credit cards. I also still haven't found an answer to my original question.

Maybe this post isn't entirely on-topic, but as the father of a five-year-old, this interview really got my blood boiling. This sort of stuff (and the fact that my government keeps supporting it) just hits harder since I became a dad. cross-posted from: https://lemmy.crimedad.work/post/22182 > A painful case study on the Israeli apartheid regime.

I have young kids and I feel like I've pretty much become isolated from my friends. The ones that have kids live out of state. My best friends don't have kids so they usually come to me, but they also have their own lives so I don't want to bother them. And I can't really do my hobbies. I knew it would be hard with young kids, but I didn't realize it would be so lonely and without an outlet.

The show is inane, but [the music slaps](https://open.spotify.com/album/5RghnhLU5w8Ludol7Bys33). First of all, Carmen Carter absolutely kills the vocals on SuperKitties Theme and SuperKitty Call, both hard driving 70s-ish action theme vibes. Take the xylophone solos on SuperKitty Call and inject them into my veins. My Bath, My Bubbles and Me is a goddam bop. Always In My Heart is a tearjerker that would fit in just fine on your favorite boy band album. And even the rough ones (like Cheese) are only 60 seconds long, so they're over before they can get too annoying. Am I right, or am I just going insane because this is LITERALLY THE ONLY MUSIC I'VE BEEN ALLOWED TO LISTEN TO FOR THE LAST MONTH?

Alright Dad's, what's your favorite Bluey Episode? Mine is S03 E18 - "Rain". It's the only episode to have basically no dialogue. When my daughter and I sit down and binge watch Bluey on Saturday mornings, I often start with that episode.

I took a week off work, and I definitely needed it. I was having micro-snaps here and there. I loved this past week with my kids but somehow I'm more tired than if I just work (my two kids are under three if that makes any difference). Also, any advice on potty training would be great. The older one will go both in his diaper and in the toilet. He pooped in the toilet once which was a big win, but that's because I caught him about to go in his diaper. Unfortunately wife and I aren't consistently home at the same time that we can do the Donald duck route, which we did the past week but he doesn't cue us when he needs to go. I'm sure in due time things will come as this past week I'm claiming as a resounding success. Thanks in advance!

Usually we are good, sexwise, bit's becoming apparent something is off this year. She thinks the issue is poor health which is probably a component, especially in past sessions but tonight I was getting increasingly frustrated and just didn't speak up. I don't know where to turn to for advice on this. Essentially I was doing all the work, I had two tuga on me and that was it, I was on top first and she was literally just laying there. Hardly making a sound. After that she told me she wanted to be on top so we switched and she was dry and I started to instantly deflate. The culmination of it all just sucks. When I expressed how I felt like she wasn't really reacting and enthusiastic, she lashed out at me and said it's because of my health. I dont know, maybe she's right but I just was not getting the right vibes and I was feeling increasingly frustrated. How do I approach this better?

Mine was mostly pretty low-key, which is how I like it. I got some small gifts from my wife and daughter, including a 7oz hammer with a colorfully painted handle. I actually really liked that. For dinner my mother-in-law took us out to an expensive steakhouse, where I had a wonderful ribeye, but I don't think it was worth the price. I'm grateful and appreciative, but I think it was a little too much. I think that she and/or my father-in-law had a gift card, so it made sense for them. Besides all that, I somehow hardly had [to put up with any complaints](https://lemmy.one/post/71363), even from my ever opinionated four-year-old. I would have enjoyed the day a lot more [if I didn't have to worry about work today](https://lemmy.one/post/206070).

Just thought I'd throw this out there to see how single father's are dealing with Father's day as a co-parent. I didn't get to see my daughter today because it wasn't my weekend. I could've changed but I don't like changing up the schedule with my ex. My daughter will have something made for me from daycare and I'll get it from her next weekend. Father's day has never been a big deal for me, even less since my father passed a few years ago. It's been just another normal day for me. Feel free to share your experiences of how Father's day went for you.
