Whoever is in charge of DC's collected editions department must be an omnibus fan.
There are a number of Wonder Woman movies but not one movie with Rocket Raccoon as a main character and Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 3 where he actually did play somewhat of a major role to the movie. Note as well I found it on Reddit as a 10-year-old post so Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 3 wasn't out yet and basically yeah the first movie was still new so yeah 2014 is when this meme was made. Is the joke meant to point fun at the fact that people criticize Wonder Woman movies cause the most recent one at this time was in 2011? I honestly just don't get what this joke is trying to convey.
>rather than something separated from the main line \[...\] this will be something published in conjunction with the main line, part of a larger initiative that aims to spotlight DC's entire lineup. But there will not be a reboot or even a relaunch of the main line, that will remain intact and continuity (along with many creative teams) will continue on. So this is essentially a long-term Elseworlds or Earth-Whatever within the same shared universe?
"[Superman: The Triangle Era Omnibus Vol. 1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/1779528167/)" in September 2024 >collects *Superman* \#49-64; *Adventures of Superman* \#472-486; *Action Comics* \#659-673; *Superman: The Man of Steel* \#1-8. "[Deathstroke: The Terminator by Marv Wolfman Omnibus Vol. 1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/1779528515/)" in December 2024, which is pretty much what the trade paperbacks collected a few years ago, if I'm not mistaken >Collects *Deathstroke* (1991 series) #1-26; *Deathstroke Annual* \#1-2; *The New Titans* \#70; *Superman* \#68; and stories from *Showcase '93* \#6-11. Holy moly. What's going on in DC's Collected Editions department? They finally seem to be putting some serious resources into it. Just a few days ago the solicitations showed that hardcovers and softcovers of current runs will be released simultaneously, for example Ram V’s Detective Comics. And they also release the interjacent volumes too, so that the releases can sync up quickly and no softcovers are skipped. Which is a game changer for paperback readers. And now all those omnibus editions? Awesome! (there's also Aquaman by Peter David, Secret Six by Gail Simone, Flash by William Messner-Loebs and a bunch more in the next few months)
That's a big change. For a few years now the softcovers trailed the hardcovers by 1 year. And sometimes they even got cancelled entirely on short notice. Now it seems that DC will release a bunch of books simultaneously as hardcover and softcover, for example Ram V's Detective Comics. And they also release the interjacent volumes too, so that the releases can sync up quickly and no softcovers are skipped. As a softcover reader this is the best news since Rebirth (when almost everything was released as softcover).
For reference, the best thing I have read in a long time was DC vs. Vampires. On the other hand, I have not managed to finish the slog that is Dark Crisis.

This will be posted from this user now, compared to the first post, which was from my regular user. For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. You can post in the [**Weekly discussion comment**](https://lemmy.ml/comment/1671055), if you don't have anything pertaining to a specific issue. I'm a big fan of 90s comics and I think it's a pity that the vast majority of it has never been (and probably will never be) collected in paperback. I'm currently reading through some old *Legends of the Dark Knight* issues that I managed to track down, and I really liked this panel so I wanted to share it with you. 🙂

![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/6ba90a8c-410f-49b4-9e0c-799616d30c88.png) After *Mr Miracle* (2017), *Strange Adventures* (2020) and *One Bad Day: Riddler* (2022), the Hugo-nominated duo Tom King and Mitch Gerads comes back with a retelling of one of the most famous comic books covers (if not stories) of history. Although I haven't read One Bad Day: Riddler, I'm generally a fan of Tom King, and his associations with Mitch Gerads are generally a win. What are you expecting?

I could see an older Nightwing being played by Tom Cruise. Batman's dead, and Nightwing and the Bat Family are all that's left to keep Gotham in check... and... something happens. Etc. Etc. Etc... Anyway, I'm reading Future State: Gotham and these panels made me think of Tom Cruise.
