It isn't really a privacy alternative yet. They are open source and can be audited, they are implementing E2EE for DMs and Chats (Discord has for DMs). If Revolt gets the E2EE right they pass to be an interesting alternative.

To be fair, some of us know how to lower the temperature but is hard to convince the other part that this is important and requires certain sacrifices, and execute the plan

what about Ente? It has E2EE encryption that immich doesn't have and can be self hostable like immich. Never used both so I'm just asking

The procedure is much hassle free than it looks. Keeping the secure boot on enrolled is a good practice. I read recently that Fedora was approving the sign automatically to be part of the gnome-software. So things may become even easier soon.

I’d use a Steamdeck mini if was available. The current size for my needs makes me classify it as a non-portable. Hope the next version they have a smaller variant along with the larger one.

Very good write up. If I not agree with all, I probably agree with most that is in here. On the DE section, I think we should help drive the beginner choice. In the recent past, KDE and Gnome were the early adopters of Wayland and the ones introducing the new features. They are also the choice of most distros. Therefore, I'd recommend one of those two.

I'd open a new section worth of scrutinies, dedicated about security. I believe it may worth advising that as a criteria of selection is recommended to not use distros that freezes regular releases for more than 1 year in desktop installations. Like is explained here. At least in your first distro selection. Advise about restricting privileged access with SELinux or AppArmor. Perhaps, also add a note about secure boot as well and some guide of how to harden your installation, Madaidans, Privacy Tweaks, PrivSec and PrivacyGuides.

  • Hey, I saw the post last week about a quest for a MMORPG mouse and it inspired me to ask for help as well. My needs are similar but not exactly the same from the OP last week: 1. Gaming MMORPGs and FPS (like everyone I guess) 2. I want specific 3 or 4 buttons additional to the front buttons, placed on the sides 3. Under 100g 4. Length up to 127mm (small hands) 5. No thumb rest is probably best. It doesn't seem that we have many new mouse models with those requirements which is a bummer. I identified some ambidextrous mouses distributing the buttons which I think I could perhaps make it work but not sure. Here are the ones that I found. PLEASE COMMENT IF I SHOULD REMOVE ONE OF THOSE FROM MY LIST OF CONTENDERS AND WHAT WOULD YOU PICK: a. [Glorious Model l 2](https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-Model-Wireless-Matte-Black/dp/B0BLFB5RRD?th=1&psc=1) -- probably the winner. Although, I will need to find a way to either accept the thumb rest or get rid of it Final considerations, I don't care if is wired or not. I see myself almost all the time with the mouse wired. Although would be nice to be USB C featured for a paracord cable. I need most help to understand those techinical differences that I'm not very familiar. Thank you for the inputs EDIT: I gave up. The mouse that I'm looking was not created yet. I decided to go with a light regular 2 side buttons mouse.

Hey, I have a Heliboard question and not sure if this is the right place to ask, sorry. I have three system languages in my phone. The three of them shows in Heliboard. I added three dictionaries, one for each. If I start typing using a secondary keyboard all words shows underlined in red. I see some words in the recommended area that seems to be correct but no matter the word selected it always shows underlined in red. This only happens for the second and third keyboard. Is this how it suppose to works? Any inputs?

Hi, I'm comparing Lemmy Android app clients and I'm between Thunder and Voyager. I noticed something weird with Voyager. There is this [post](https://lemmy.world/post/12218793) it displays an image in the timeline using Thunder but it doesn't in Voyager. Is it some configuration that I need to tweak in Voyager? Also, is there some config to display short text about the post if has image? Like some description below if available Thanks
