My thinking here is that Honda has had a shit bike for years and it just hasn't shown because Marquez was riding it beyond the limit. The same rings true to me for Yamaha to a lesser extent with Quatararo riding to his only MotoGP world championship. Outside of those two riders, neither bike has been truly competitive week in and week out for years. I see concessions as something to help the engineers more than the riders which is why I think they may be due for both of the Japanese factories.

I feel like Olivera might be saying that from a point of insecurity. Sure, the technical advantage of the Ducati is huge. But if you put a rider like Marc or Fabio on a KTM or Aprilia, I would bet that they would do better than some of the current riders in those factories. It's the same as it always has been. Success is MotoGP is a team sport and requires both the rider and the manufacturer to be at the top of their game to win.

What do you think about the idea of both Japanese manufacturers receiving concessions from MotoGP? Personally, I hope that it ends up happening if only to bring more competition to the field. I fear that a continued lack of success from HRC and Yamaha will inspire their corporations to go the way of Suzuki and leave the sport. Apologies if this is a repost. I'm new to Lemmy so I'm still trying to figure out the whole system here.
