Technically all they have to do is anonymize you by disassociating your comments from your profile

There should be a way to encrypt things when the server is off and then have a Killswitch for situations like this. Idk if it'd be overkill in this case thougj

This is a really good point. I originally supported it for those purposes. There really are few reasons for the average user to need to make such communities

I don't see how someone like Alan is a loser? And isn't the idea that men shouldn't tie their worth to their ability to get women a pro male sentiment?

It's ripe for abuse sadly. We need more reliable federation, and more importantly, the ability to moderate things BEFORE they federate.

I would not overly praise old reddit like this. I agree that people were more open minded and willing to engage in substantive discussions, but old reddit was also hosting the likes of /r/jailbait, /r/coontown, /r/n*ggers. There's good and bad aspects.

There was a guy posting literal gifs of shit and also DMing them to people and somehow I still prefer it over reddit.
I'm talking like communities exclusive to an instance where only instance members can participate in. This would be great for communities like The Agora.

Fediverse needs some more fault tolerance before it'll grow. Hopefully they eventually implement message queues so moderation decisions that fail to federate eventually will.
