Personally I found the connection between Doom/video games and Margaret Thatcher /neoliberalism to be pretty weak. Individually, both points were great and very well stated. And the end conclusion was also pretty cool - unions failed to prevent neoliberalism so they may not be enough to defeat it today either but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a step towards rebuilding the kinds of communities that can.
Edit - also, if you want to draw in “apolitical gamers” they maybe that section talking about how the annoyances and problems people have with modern gaming come from capitalism should be presented before the political talk about neoliberalism.
They even gave me a free calendar! The costumes and sets look lovely! They told me just how terrible the CCP is. Did you know the Chinese Communist Party is eradicating 5000 years of Chinese history??? It’s so sad.
They’re pretty much sold on capitalism = bad and socialism = good but having more resources for that would be appreciated too.
Edit - This is just a video of BadEmpanada dunking on cringe Xanderhal/Vaush takes. Not an attempt to start a new struggle session. On point. If you have the time to watch a twitch streamer ramble on, you probably have time to buy beans and rice.
It looks like an interesting paper. I haven't read it or heard the podcast OP is referring to. But I can definitely see his point on how toxic masculinity can be used as a weapon by liberals to further marginalise the poorer classes and communities of colour.

My post is specifically for liberals/leftists who think they’re free from ingrained racism/sexism etc.

What’s your point? We should only talk about M4A?
Like, the amount of times you hear this is mind boggling. And it’s always liberals/“leftists” who say they’re not racist. > “But I just don’t find them attractive.” You have NOT seen/interacted with literally every single member of that community. How in the fuck can you just broadly say you aren’t attracted to them? > It’s just a preference. Like, you’re literally saying you don’t find people of a specific race, or from a specific place, or who follow a specific religion attractive. What the fuck kind of “preference” is this? I don’t understand. That’s terfs saying they don’t find “trans” people attractive. No that’s terfs being literal terfs. Stop it. > I’m a POC too! I can’t be racist against my own race! Yeah, you are being racist against your own race here. I don’t see why you can’t. Candace Owens regularly spreads anti-Black propaganda for her personal benefit. There are countless such examples. This shit drives me up the wall. And I haven’t even mentioned the amount of times these devolve into arguments about how ___ race/religion is actually bad and people who are a part of it/follow it are bad. So. Many. Times. And said with a straight face too! By people who say they’re not racist or xenophobic. For some reason people think being a POC means you’re immune from being racist/xenophobic. Which just isn’t true. I’m not saying your bad for feeling this way. A huge part is the culture we’re born in and grow up in. But a sign of maturity is recognising this ingrained racism and getting rid of it. Sorry, just sometimes liberals get on my fucking nerves.
