It seems to work if you post to redgifs and then link it to lemmynsfw. I think lemmynsfw has the ability to play stuff from redgifs, but I don't think lemmy.world does. I could be wrong about this, but I definitely had better luck uploading gifs to redgifs before sharing them on lemmynsfw.
