I ask because like you literally just google what you don't know. Everyone in the industry knows this, but you can't fucking say that at an interview
Just a personal anecdote, but i once said exactly that - that I'm a good googler. Then I went into a spiel about how being able to navigate to certain corners of the interent is an underrated skill in todays world. I ended up getting that job.
Might not always work, but i wouldn't necessarily shy away from talking about it.

Idk about recently, but the knesset did try to expel him. 85 voted in favor. It failed to get the required 90 though and he remained there. At least at that point

what Israel actually deserves is unlimited genocide
I know theres been struggle sessions around this kind of ironic talk before, but i mean, come on, this shit is just stupid to say.
We shouldn't say it for the same reason we dont have a burning Israel flag emoji.
Israel is a settler-colonial state currently engaging in genocide (and basically has been since its creation). It should be dismantled as a state. Yes. Say that. Not this stupid ass shit you're trying to push. Its dumb and childish and will only drive people away.

How NYT chooses to report on fatah/hamas agreement:
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/23/world/middleeast/fatah-hamas-china-statement.html
“What happened in China isn’t significant,” said Jehad Harb, an analyst of Palestinian affairs. “There aren’t any indications that Hamas and Fatah intend to end the split between them.”
“These statements aren’t worth the ink needed to write them,” said Abd Al-Rahman Basem al-Masri, 25, a resident of Deir al Balah in central Gaza. “We’ve seen these things before and we’ve lost hope in them.”
Great example of how media tries to control narratives.

That question is like asking how is one piece of shit smellier than the other. They're both horrible.
My point is that i get the impression Harris pisses off the general electorate with her condescending tone more than Biden's genocide does. I think she'll fare worse.
Obviously fuck these laws. And even if these laws state that universities cannot legally divest, they should divest anyway and say 'fuck you, take me to court'--but, with that aside, what are the actual details of these laws? I know it varies state to state, but in PA, for example, where the UPenn encampment was raided this morning, the university says "Penn remains unequivocally opposed to divestment, and it is unlawful for institutions receiving funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania." From what I can tell, there's just a 2016 law that states that the government of PA essentially can't do business with entities that have divested from Israel--but how does that legally prevent the entity from actually doing so on their part? I keep seeing this claim that "It's illegal to divest, so we as a university can't do so. Tough luck." Not only is it ethically BS, but it seems to be a straight up lie, too?
The user [@ThirdWorldOrder@lemm.ee](https://lemm.ee/u/ThirdWorldOrder) was posting horrible takes over at this thread here: https://hexbear.net/post/693254?scrollToComments=false Many of their comments have since been removed. I cant speak to all their comments, but there were a few which i'm surprised to see removed, regardless of the ![brainworms](https://www.hexbear.net/pictrs/image/99832a04-92c8-4765-9a52-aecd28086cef.png "emoji brainworms") A few people had posted decent posts in response. The person themselves may never change or may just be trolling, but there could be lib lurkers who read these threads who get swayed by some of the stuff we say in our exchanges. That's why Hexbear is so good -- people often have quality in depth posts. But what is the point of federating if we cant actually engage with the federation? Dont get me wrong, sometime you need to remove the comments and ban the users, I'm not aruging for ![freeze-peach](https://www.hexbear.net/pictrs/image/2e218d49-4c3f-484f-b9fd-eeee92d43af3.png "emoji freeze-peach") I'm saying that in that thread, in this specific case, I enjoyed reading fellow hexbear and lemmygrad responses. If I did, then others probably did too. For example, [@Awoo@hexbear.net](https://hexbear.net/u/Awoo) posted this: https://ecfr.eu/publication/the-art-of-vassalisation-how-russias-war-on-ukraine-has-transformed-transatlantic-relations/ Which is a good thing to share and something I wouldn't have seen if we get to be too quick to shut down bad takes. We would of course take the argument further than the authors of this paper but its a lib-friendly source talking about vassalisation. That could potentially be one of a thousand things that starts to open the eyes for a few people.
First the algorithm changed so now I feel like I'm constantly late to threads and next we had the federation with utterly shit takes popping up left and right. ![fidel-salute-big](https://www.hexbear.net/pictrs/image/8d18951a-6a67-41dd-8a1a-82dd2e5e7aed.png "fidel-salute-big") to our mods and admins nonetheless cus a lot has gone into this site over the last few years, but damn...I'm feeling...I don't know, nostalgic for the past?
