Finding a great trauma informed therapist. After many attempts and being scalped, I finally found her and she has been the most compassionate, understanding and to the point therapist I could ever ask for.

Finding a great doctor who actually listens and has helped me tons with my condition.

I just I didn't have to pay so much money to access these professionals, not that they don't deserve it, they do!

Fiction: Currently reading "The empty chair" from the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffery Deaver. I am liking it so far and it is good distraction.

Non fiction: "The psychedelic explorer's guide. Safe, therapeutic and sacred journeys" by James Fadiman. Some I like, some I don't but it is interesting learning about somebody else's experience.

Never read it, just some parts here and there because a girlfriend was reading it and it was hilarious LOL The descriptions are supposed to be sexy or alluring or god knows what but they are so cringey! It took me a bit to understand that my friend was reading it seriously.

Plus it makes it feel like a game, kinda. I hate doing the dishes, but can I finish before the pot boils over? I load folding laundry but can I do it before my show is over? Etc

There is a very skittish mare that I leave alone because of said skittishness. Today while browsing my phone I was leaning on the stall wall right by her not paying attention when suddenly she came up and put her head next to mine in a "what are we looking at" kind of gesture. She stayed there for a bit while I was trying my best to stay still and not let my excitement show too much. It made me feel special.

"The teachings of Don Juan" by Carlos Castaneda. Read it in highschool and it put me off psychedelics for more than two decades.

That and the "You'll feel some pressure" lie.

Yeah, no. I know how pressure feels and it is not that!

I am female therefore many medical procedures that should absolutely use some kind of anesthesia, do not because "it'll be over in a pinch" "it's mild discomfort" etc. IUD insertion is a big fear of mine.

My car has a touch screen for audio stuff including volume. I HATE not having a knob to turn it up or down. Yes it has two buttons to go up or down on the steering wheel. No I don't like them and I would still rather have the knob thank you very much.

Oh fuck no! Dark water is a big fear of mine. I like swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling BUT those dark patches in the water make me truly feel paralyzed and electrified at the same time brbrbrbr. One time I went to the Yucatan penninsula to swim in a couple of cenotes and boy did it make my body shiver! Let alone the meaning of cenotes in mayan cosmogony and what not but the pure sheer terror that that black water gave me was like nothing else.

"The shutter" the original asian one. I remember watching it when it came out and loved it. ETA and the original Halloween of course but I also liked Rob Zombie's version of it.

  • ETA: I have read and downloaded many of your recommendations and have had lots of fun reading them! You are such a welcoming enthusiastic bunch. Thanks a lot! Still looking for more suggestions in case someone wants to add to the ever growing list. So far this year I have read twenty seven books. Looking for some good mystery novels/short story compilation, etc. Preferably no sci fi or futuristic stuff, no Stephen King. TIA. FWIW just finished reading "We have to talk about Kevin" by Lionel Shriver. It was OK.

As stated above. I can go months without eating an egg, for example, and suddenly crave eggs benedict for breakfast everyday. Good thing is my dietitian is aware of this executive dysfunction/quirk/habit and works closely with me to help me out planning meals in a way that works me. Right now I am on a soup kick: Soup, soup, soup everyday, all day. ETA A word
