Why replace lead pipes at huge costs when you can just shoot criminals?

All depends on who you follow. If you follow people who make stuff (art, software, etc) then you’ll find your feed a lot more upbeat.

For those (like me) who have no idea what Terra Nil is:
“Terra Nil is an intricate environmental strategy game about transforming a barren wasteland into a thriving, balanced ecosystem. Bring life back to a lifeless world by purifying soil, cleaning oceans, planting trees, and reintroducing wildlife, then leave without a trace.”

For those (like me) who are confused what it is:
“Alexandrite is a beautiful desktop-first alternative web UI for Lemmy, a social link aggregator and discussion forum for the Fediverse.”
The mod-heavy focus sounds excellent I must say.
It seems, unlike Elk.Zone for instance, there’s no pre-hosted instance of this yet. Is that correct?

Love it! So much progress! Really well done.
One feature I find myself missing: comment collapse, to collapse a whole comment thread, to marking easy to move on to the next. In a bunch of other clients, that’s done by tapping on the comment. I’d be very interested in having this behaviour in Artic too.

Note that Kbin has a couple of colour variables set up in its CSS. The best way to colour your theme, is to use those (& override them).
Also, you’ll want a semi-colon after your lines, that way you can use more than one.
Div {height:100px; weight:100px;}

Sounds like it may be worth renaming ‘other’ to ‘input other here’ or something like that

Through general media everyone’s imbibed a bit of Star Trek anyway, so just start with Lower Decks and forget the rest ;)

It needs to be solved in code + ui, and ideally in the default Kbin/Lemmy interfaces, so that every new user’s experience is the best it can be.
At the end of the day it’s all about friction, the less of it the better.

I agree on your points - the UI needs some tweaks…but I still likelier more than the standard Lemmy interface.
I’m sure the competition between the two (& the many apps) will lead to both Kbin and Lemmy ending up with terrific interfaces.

Well he only did SOME of it. CSS and JavaScript is all after him.

What an interesting piece - cc @daringfireball@mastodon.social
We've tried reaching out to the creator of this community, but no luck so far - the original mods of the /r/Amsterdam subreddit have set up a Threadiverse version over at Kbin. Join us there if you like! [Kbin.social/m/Amsterdam](https://kbin.social/m/Amsterdam)
