I could agree .... but the gullible masses have no idea they are being manipulated ... while the trained and educated media managers and owners (and to a lesser extent the actual journalists) know exactly what they are doing and why

I can blame the listeners for being stupid ... but I still blame the messenger for intentionally misleading the public.

You can blame the gullible listener to only wanting to hear what they want to hear ....

    ... or ...

You can blame the well trained, educated and directed media for promoting, highlighting and normalizing the idea of spreading semitruth and fabrication in order to push an overall agenda.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, I don't subscribe to dumb delusions of aliens or illluminati cults running the world ... but I do believe that there is a culture of highly trained individuals working in media these days who just knowingly spread extreme views and pass them off as legitimate enough to be debated. A politician like Turnip shouldn't be normal ... but a national media has made it completely normal to have someone as unwell, politically unstable and sociopathic as Turnip to be acceptable enough to talk about endlessly as if there is nothing wrong with him.

In this case .... I blame the messenger

Just keep shit posting to the world and keep everyone talking about him in whatever context or situation ... it doesn't matter as long as we're talking about him.

And we are .... the campaign is working ... expect more shitposting, stupidity and insanity in the weeks to come.

Turnip may be dumb ... but we're all equally stupid for putting up with him and watching this dumpster fire and endlessly talking about it.

And yes ... I am guilty of it all too.

I grew up on porridge and I still eat it every morning with my coffee and toast

I think it was the difference between me being a good student in elementary and high school compared to my classmates who all barely passed or just dropped out. This and a steady diet of fish at least twice a week when I was growing up.

We never had a lot of food because we are Indigenous Canadian, grocery food was way too expensive so mom and dad relied on wild food and wild fish to supplement our diet ... I estimate about half my diet before I was 15 was wild food. The only cheap thing mom could buy for breakfast was oatmeal and its something I've eaten every day of my life. Milk was a luxury so most of the time, it was just watered down canned milk every morning.

I don't have kids of my own but I have lots of nieces and nephews and I see what they are living on now. Almost 100% store bought food and sugar laced boxed cereal every morning. Almost all of them are either chubby or just plain overweight. I look at pictures of me and my siblings when we were ten, and we looked like skinny scrawny kids .... my nieces and nephews are now all overweight at the same age.

It's not just the quantity of food that is important ... it's the quality of the food we eat or feed to a child.

My favourite was in Toronto Pearson International to pick up an elderly aunt at the airport there .... this was about 10 years ago ... I don't know the rules and I don't go visit this damned airport every day, I'm not from the city but I know my way around ... all I wanted to do was pick up my aunt who said she was ready and waiting ... couldn't find her even though we gave each other clear directions and locations ... I missed her in about ten seconds between quick parking stops at the entry

Traffic cop told me to move along, I told him what I was doing, tells me to move along, told him it was my elderly aunt who needs help ... MOVE ALONG! and threatens to ticket me otherwise ... I move along ... and can't turn around so I follow the lane .... ALL THE WAY OUT TO THE FREEWAY!

Then spent half an hour trying to figure out the freeway to get back to the airport ... did it again and found my aunt ... loaded her up as quickly as possible while the same traffic cop kept looking at us.

There wasn't even time for a hug! It felt like we fleeing East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

I thought I should take the responsibility to post this and remind everyone about what today is. National Day For Truth And Reconciliation Both my parents are survivors of the residential school era and my family have had to live with this horror all our lives ... whether we knew it or not. For me the day is not to shame anyone or lay blame on those around me. But rather to let everyone know about this history and never allow anything like it to ever happen again.

Every phone call you make with just the mic near your mouth and the speaker near your ear, you are whispering into the ear of the person you are calling. If the person who answers with the mic near their mouth and the speaker near their ear is doing the same thing. It's like having a conversational 69 where both of you are placing your mouths next to each other's ears. It sounds sexual and sensual if you are talking to someone you might be interested in ... but it gets a bit awkward if you imagine doing this with a random stranger you would never usually want to get close to.

In The Original Series in the 60s, people had no idea what the future would look like or what technology would look like. In one of the early episodes, they had a paper print out machine on the bridge that looked like a fax machine, which was considered futuristic in the 1960s. Like the example of the Enterprise fax machine, what technology or system do you think are we displaying in the current Star Trek shows that will show how dated we will become in the future?

I didn't see it posted so I thought I should. I'm Indigenous, full blooded Ojibway/Cree from northern Ontario. Both my parents survived the residential school system in the 50s and I attended the last vestiges of Christianized schooling when I was growing up. We saw a lot of discrimination against us in my family and we were always made to feel less than every other Canadian we ever knew. Even with all that ..... my dad always enjoyed celebrating this holiday because he just thought it was fun and a good time to celebrate with family and friends. Maybe he just didn't know but whenever this time of year comes around, all I can think of is how much he enjoyed just having a bit of fun today in the middle of summer. In my own experience, I've travelled the world to 34 countries so I got see and compare how our country compares to the rest of the world. With all its shortcomings and blemishes .... this is still a great country and a prime example of decent democracy. It isn't perfect and it is very problematic and unequal in many ways ... but its on the top of the pile of mostly or more democratic places on the planet. I may be wrong on that but that is just my opinion. So with all that said .... to all my Native, non-Native, nation born, immigrant, brown, white, black, and every shade in between .... Happy Canada Day to all of you.

I didn't see any one mention it here but today is the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy and what has become to be known as the beginning of the end of the Second World War. James Doohan who famously played Scotty in The Original Series in the 1960s was a veteran of this famous battle. This was also the day he famously lost his finger which he always did his very best to hide from the camera. Read about him at this webpage provided by the Juno Beach Centre. https://www.junobeach.org/canada-in-wwii/articles/james-doohan/ For those who don't know Juno Beach refers to one of the five named beach areas of the D-Day landings. Juno Beach was the landing area for the Canadian Forces of which James Doohan was part. And also for those who don't know, James Doohan was a Canadian.

This is one of best commentaries I've heard recently about indigenous fraud. I've stopped referring to it as "Pretendians" because this isn't a cute joke, this is serious fraud and can sometimes add up to tens, hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars worth of lifelong fraud. At first I watched this woman's video as a laugh because I watch lots of indigenous video blogs. At first I thought she was messing around but soon realized she was completely serious ..... as she was doing her hair and makeup.

I just finished watching this German produced Netflix film and it was completely awful. If you are looking forward to this film, go watch it first if you want and skip my little review below. ::: spoiler spoiler If you don't care and want to just take my word for it ... it is a waste of four one hour episodes, a total of four hours of content. Everything inside the film and its marketing is an AI like production with all the sci-fi alien contact cliches and movie tropes from the past 20 years. A mysterious woman in space having an epiphany, hearing voices; a father with his daughter, a daughter with a disability, a father with a truckers hat, construction worker garb running in a cornfield, mysterious no-name SWAT team/soldiers, a nuclear explosion, helicopters, jet fighters, astronauts, the ISS, scientists, the desert, cityscapes, car crashes, car chase, secret agents, a plane crash, .... input all this into an AI program and ask it for a script and you'll end up with 'The Signal' There is so little soul, sense or common logic in the film that to me it has all the hallmarks of a script and writing that was all generated by AI tools. If you look at the writers who put this together it is a group of four young writers with almost no prior experience in major film, yet they were handed the keys to a multi-million dollar production. I like watching new films and I regularly take my chances at watching something new and different. This one was interesting but the more I watched it, the more I became suspicious that it was either written by a terrible dyslectic writer with little life experience ... or it was mashed together with an AI text generator. One of the biggest giveaways that it most likely was an AI generated script was the corny voice over wrap up at the end of the film. I felt like I had just watched a four hour version of those Youtube auto generated AI fake film previews that are popular right now. :::
