Thank you for sharing this! I haven't used Arrow tooo much but I have been running into lots of performance issues with CSVs and Pandas which is leading me into experimenting with Arrow / Polars. Never hurts to read up on the documentation & I assume I'll be using Arrow a lot more in the future.

The tough thing with creative endeavors is that you really just need the motivation to start and continue making anything, it can be inexpensive stuff. The important thing is output and making it a regular thing.
That being said, gearing up for a new hobby is always fun if you can afford it. But you can absolutely make short films on an iPhone.

Saw this posted elsewhere and thought maybe somebody would find it useful. This could improve the user onboarding experience but might take too much extra effort to apply to every dashboard.

Wow that's so encouraging and honestly makes me want to pick up knitting! How long did it take you to get to that point skillwise?

I've experienced a lot of weirdness like this so I feel like there's a combination of federation bugs and overloaded servers right now - hopefully it's resolved and we'll look back on this time fondly.

I've never knitted but this is beautiful! How long does this typically take to produce?

I joined lemm.ee and I'm honestly really liking it so far. @sunaurus@lemm.ee is doing a great job! However, I'm wondering if I should create a new account on programming.dev (or somewhere else) to be closer to where data science / data engineering conversations are happening. Or maybe there's a way to promote [!dataengineering@lemm.ee](https://lemm.ee/c/dataengineering) to folks on other instances? (I didn't create this one but I'm hoping it's discovered by others soon)
I get questions like this a lot: - Where did this data come from? - How do I know I can trust the source? - What types of QA checks were applied to this data? Data lineage is such a chronic issue in data engineering. This blog post from Airbyte gives a good overview & mentions some interesting products/projects that can maybe help out with data lineage. Unfortunately, I have limited flexibility to purchase or install tools for this in my current role. Anyone rolled their own solution for this?
(pdf download at the bottom of the linked page) Often the most challenging part of data engineering is figuring out what problem to solve in the first place. The resources Stanford put in this Design Thinking Bootleg might have something that can help you work with others and build towards a well-designed solution.
I absolutely love Tableau - I've been using it virtually daily for about 10 years. I feel like it's been less and less widely-used since Tableau Software was acquired by Salesforce. At my org (and many others) leadership are pushing for PowerBI since it's cheaper (get what you pay for in my opinion). Just curious if anyone else is feeling this / what tools you're exploring these days. I wish some open source project like Apache SuperSet would turn into a viable Tableau replacement but it's just not the same.
For Python developers, the NumPy array is a widely used data structure in data science / data engineering. Thought this paper was a good resource to learn a bit more about the history and core concepts of NumPy.
Curious if other Spotify users are using the DJ feature. Can't decide if I like it or not yet.
I found this content super helpful and I frequently share this with new coworkers getting started in data / dev.
