when in doubt: mysterious shadow object, lmao.
“According to flat-Earth conspiracy theorists, this astronomical phenomenon — known as a total lunar eclipse — was actually a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of a mysterious "shadow object" that orbits the sun and occasionally passes in front of the moon from our point of view here, on an allegedly pizza-shaped Earth.”

I’ve tried using ChatGPT for some basic coding syntax/logic, and I’ve had mixed results. Usually not so great. Wondering if it had access to the whole code base and could better understand the context of the code if it would be better. What’s your experience been like?

Reminds me of when I started going to public school and learned about evolution, something my Evangelical parents always taught me was a lie.
Thankfully my education broke me out of that, but it put me behind a little bit.

Same, I used to be StripedNinja on Reddit. Still see a bunch of Rocket League, Microsoft Excel, Guitar, and Mandolin posts when I google it.

It may be a web app, but when you add it to your home screen it looks and feels just like a native app.

If Christian just changed Apollo to be a Lemmy app would have been a power move for the ages lol.
As a loyal Apollo user for years I can vouch for wefwef, the devs are very open about how they are modeling it after Apollo, the influence is definitely present.

It’s really changed the way I think about web apps. I hope to see more open source apps this way in the future.

I haven’t been on Reddit at all today. I have, admittedly, opened Apollo and looked at the app icons several times. Whenever I do that I just go back to Lemmy lol

I’ve been really enjoying wefwef for iOS. Very similar feel to Apollo.

I might be completely missing it but I don’t see the option in chrome or firefox on iPhone. Regardless, I don’t use safari for anything else. When you add it to your home screen via safari it looks and feels like a native app.

Might be worth giving it a try in Safari. Be sure to add it to your home screen because that adds additional functionality.
edit: Androids smh

On the front page of wefwef you can choose to look at communities you are subscribed to, all federated communities, or “local” communities aka communities from the instance you are logged in on!

This does seem useful, although undoubtedly I would forget it exists whenever the opportunity would arise to use it.

Are you using Safari? It’s not an option on Chrome, which is what I normally use so I had to switch over to Safari.
From there, in the toolbar you’ll see the “share” icon (box with arrow pointing up), then you should see “add to home screen” as one of the options when you scroll down a little.
Hope this helps!
