My Stepfather is dying.

I was already in the Navy when he and my mother got together. 30 flipping years ago.... where does the time go? SO, he was never a real father figure to me but has been part of my life for a good long while. He is 84 with dementia, so it is time for these things. He was declining at a steady rate, but this week the bottom just fell out. I thought he was too stubborn to die. He really did seem a bit invincible. His only religion was a mix of Joel Osteen and Christian Science. I have no earthly idea what that prepares a person for in the afterlife. Rest assured he will have many masses said for him and I am praying for the grace of true repentance and true contrition. He could be an extremely aggravating person to be around which is strange because he was a good salesman... Go figure. I hate this. He will be missed for sure, but I've seen the end of Alzheimer's. This might be better. SO, fellow internet vagabonds. what ever prayers you pray, if you could offer some up for Dave. Thank you

I don't know. I have a friend that lost a lot of weight going vegan. He seems happy. I wish I could be vegan, but I function better on meat. Red meat. Hmmm, I might go full carnivore. Still hanging in there with OMAD.

It happened.

Pray for me that this is my moment. I won an award at work which was nice. They wanted to give me a little certificate and take my picture. Take my picture. I work from home and had allowed myself to get fat and gross. I was planning on dieting a bit to get rid of the water weight so I wouldn't be all bloated. I would start on Monday. The Thursday before we were part of a prayer rally and it was late so we all went out to eat. I couldn't fit behind the booth. I technically could fit behind the booth, but it was uncomfortable. We made it work, but something just broke in me. It's hard to explain. Yes it's very embarrassing, but it's not like I can duck around the corner and shed 50lbs. You're just there in the moment, solve the immediate problem. That was Thursday evening and the picture was not the next day but the Friday after. I had 8 days. I fasted for 8 days. That will get rid of all the water weight. I've done slightly longer fasts in the past but for some reason I started feeling sick, so I broke fast and went to OMAD. I've been on that for the past week. Keto and OMAD. I am at 300 lbs, my guess is that I started my fast at 330 lbs. People don't stay 300 lbs, you either lose weight or you go up to 500 lbs. I don't know what to say because I have successfully lost weight in the past and kept it off for years, then life got really stressful, I didn't deal well with it. Food is definitely an addiction for me. Please send up prayers for me that I can stick with my diet. My thought is that by combining Keto and calorie counting then there is no way I can not lose weight. If I stick to my plan eventually I will hit my goal. I'm 6ft plus, 300 lb guy. If I eat 1500 calories a day, I will lose weight. If I eat high fat low carb, I won't get hunger cravings. My last plea to you is - don't get fat. If you have to lose a lot of weight your own biology really works against you. If you need to lose 20 lbs, do it now. Thanks for listening.

Snakes on a plane

I finally saw Snakes on a plane. Compared to what is available today I thought it was rather good. I did not appreciate the nudity and the language... well, Samuel L Jackson was in it and that is what he is known for. Frankly Father Stu was worse on language than Snakes on a plane. PROS: Fun Movie CONS: Bewbs and language.

The leftist world view.

I had a bit of an epiphany and I'm not sure where to post this. This is my sincere effort to not be a troll and post the clearest version of the leftist's world view as I can - AND it's consequences. Here goes. Undeserved suffering is evil. Undeserved suffering is the only evil there is. Deserved suffering is fine, so you can torture Nazis - they deserve it. You can also suffer to get a better job or position in life, that is wanted suffering. While it isn't good, it isn't evil. Since undeserved suffering is the ultimate evil and the only evil there is, we must rearrange government and society to eliminate all unwanted suffering. You can change your body, change your sex. You can decide to be anything at all as long as it alleviates or removes unwanted suffering. Abortion is seen as a heroic act because it removes the unwanted suffering of the mother, and the child growing in a disadvantaged household will suffer undeservedly so aborting the pregnancy is a doubly heroic act. Suffering is the only evil. Even if it is murder they don't care. Murder isn't evil, only suffering is evil. Murder is only evil if it causes someone to suffer, the same with lying. Lying is only wrong if it makes someone suffer. Here is the poison in the ideology. Are you going to suffer things in life that you don't want to? Yes. With almost absolute certainty you will suffer things you don't want to. Suffering is the only and ultimate evil. They might not say it explicitly but since suffering is evil and all who exist are almost guaranteed to suffer - existence itself is evil. They will deny this, but the rampant nihilism on the left all but proves my point. The left believes that the very act of existing is evil. Need a carbon tax to save the planet but it will kill a billion people? Not really a problem because you are ending their suffering - existing is evil and with fewer people we will be better able to mitigate their suffering.

They argue in bad faith, they are rude and generally unpleasant. I saw a few brave souls having civil discussions even if they weren't profitable. You're better men than I am. Not that I want to be rude. But when the conversation leaves the realm of ideas and becomes tactics and maneuvering to win points, then I am done.

I'm just minding my own business and all of the sudden we were inundated by all of these lunatics talking nonsense. Were we invaded by shitjustworks? Did they think that calling us toxic was going to win arguments? I don't really know how federation works. I assumed that a new instance would automatically be federated and then the crybabies would run away. I don't understand the sudden influx. Of course they would be butthurt.
